IB Youth Leading The Change COP29 International Conference

On October 5, 2024, the IB Youth Leading The Change COP29 International Conference, dedicated to COP29, was held by the administration of IB School Lyceum N6 in Baku.

The main goal of this conference was to discuss the expectations and proposals concerning climate change from the younger generation in preparation for the COP29 conference, which will take place in Baku in November 2024. Organized as part of a CAS project by DP2 student Ayla Rustamli, this event brought together students from various countries to discuss global efforts in support of the Paris Agreement’s goals.

Honorable guests included Yalchin Ilgar oghlu Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Lead Negotiator of the COP29 Azerbaijan, Tural Ahmadov, Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, and Elchin Sardarov, WWF-Azerbaijan COP29 communications coordinator.

The event also featured online participation from COP29 panel guests such as Vekash Khan, Mr. Arry, and Ms. Sawana Fabien, a Project Officer at the UNDP Dominica Project Office, who shared their experiences in renewable energy, climate change mitigation, and project management.

Students from local and international schools, including TISA, Idrak Lyceum, Azerbaijan British College, Dunya School, Baku Oxford School, Baku European Lyceum, ADA, and MLK-200, also took part in the event.

Through this international event, young people shared their projects and ideas on climate change, striving to contribute to future global efforts.
